Organised Crime is on the verge of making history

Organised Crime will attempt to become one of the youngest greyhounds to win the Group 2 Horsham Cup on Friday night after qualifying fastest for the feature in just his seventh career start.

Trainer Justin Nolan believes the talented youngster has all the attributes to develop into a top-class chaser.

“He is a nice dog with good ability and is putting everything together,” Nolan said.

“He is also a mature dog when he is at the races, which is a great trait to have.

“I am excited to see how far he gets in his career.”

Despite his inexperience, Nolan never doubted Organised Crime deserved his chance against the sport’s elite.

“If I didn’t think he could handle it, I wouldn’t have put him in,” he said.

Organised Crime stopped the clock in a slick 26.76 seconds from box five.

The hype surrounding Organised Crime began well before his race debut.

Sent out a $1.10 favourite in a heat of the rich Bendigo Gold Rush Maiden series, he produced a breathtaking 23.42 second victory over 425 metres, finishing just two lengths outside the track record.

He later finished second behind Mysterious in the Gold Rush Maiden Final.

Organised Crime has again drawn box five for Friday night’s Horsham Cup Final – the same box he won his heat from.

His main threat, Australian Cup winner Dramatical who will jump from box two. Dramatical qualified for the Horsham Cup three lengths slower than Organised Crime.

Organised Crime was also a length fastest than Dramatical early.

For Nolan, the formula is simple.

“He just needs to do what he did last week – accelerate.”

A Group race victory would also be a breakthrough moment for Nolan, who has previously competed at the highest level without tasting success.

“We just haven’t been able to knock one off,” he said.

Beyond Horsham, Nolan has several feature races on the agenda for his rising star, although he was keeping those plans under wraps for now.
