The star power that has come through the Pink Diamond Maiden Series over the years is impossible to ignore – last year it produced Traumatise and the year prior, Deadly Avenger.

While punters wait to see how the markets settle, a glance through the breeding tells its own story, with several youngsters closely linked to some of the sport’s biggest names. 

Two-time Phoenix winner Wow She’s Fast headlines the list, with two of her half-siblings engaged for owner, breeder and trainer Peter Craig.  

Fair Of Face, the mother of Wow She’s Fast, has produced her final litter by Kinloch Brae, with Blackness Castles (race five, box one) and Wow She’s Cute (race six, box two) both stepping out in the Maiden Short Course heats.

Country Cups queen of 2023 Kelsey Bale also has two youngsters competing. Groot Bale (race four) and Drax Bale (race five) are from her second litter by Bernardo and will contest the Maiden Short Course heats. 

Aston Rupee – your 2022 Victorian Greyhound of the Year. 

Aston Missile is another royally bred prospect. He is out of Aston Flame, a full sister to champion sprinter and Sandown Park track record holder Aston Rupee, and will jump from box eight in race four. 

Epitomize dominated the Great Chase before going onto win the Silver Chief at The Meadows. 

The Josh Formosa and Korie Heinrich kennel (formerly Team Dailly) has a strong hand with pups out of Promote, a daughter of Fernando Bale and Elevated.  

Despite having just eight starts herself, Promote produced Great Chase and Silver Chief winner Epitomize. 

Now her third litter by Droopys Sydney gets its chance to shine at Bendigo. 

Kiss For Cash lines up in the opening Maiden Sprinter heat from box eight, Blink And Miss jumps from box one in race two, while Promote Tilly contests race six from box four. 

There is also strong interest around the progeny of She’s Got Wheels, who most recently produced Repeat The Same, winner of the Launching Pad.  

Formosa and Heinrich again combine with two youngsters from her next litter by Kinloch Brae – United George in race three and Manchester Trev in race six.

Another pedigree that catches the eye is Precious Robe for Des Douch in race two, with the youngster out of a litter sister to Brueghelino, the dam of Explicit.  

And for those who reached this far… a little treat in race eight at Bendigo. Distinction goes around in what could be shaping to be a nice lead into a Pink Diamond tilt for her.
