Good Friday Appeal Fundraising: Three weeks in

A big week for blue number four dogs on the track sees Victorian greyhound racing’s current fundraising efforts for the Royal Children’s Hospital on track to exceed expectations.

Some 32 greyhounds wearing the blue number four rug won in Victoria over the past week, up from 31 and 30 winners in each of the previous two weeks.

Every time the number four dog wins a race in Victoria during March, $300 is being donated to the Good Friday Appeal, thanks to GRV, Victoria’s 13 race clubs and Sportsbet.

With 93 winners so far this month, that’s $27,900 raised!

Furthermore, the donation amount will double to $600 for every blue number four winner on Good Friday (March 29) – with Geelong, Horsham and Traralgon having the privilege of racing on that day.

Adding to the total, the greyhound community collectively raised $11,092.75 as part of 3AW’s Climb for the Kids at Eureka Tower in Melbourne on March 1 to kick off the month-long campaign.

That takes our overall fundraising tally beyond $40,000 after the first 20 days!
