The Sixth Sense

Balliang’s Mark Delbridge pulled off an amazing feat at Sandown Park on Monday afternoon.

He trained ‘half the card’ – six winners on the 12-event fixture.

What’s more, he also prepared four-second placegetters and two quinellas on the program.

And his ‘big day out’ netted him $24,020!

“It’s my best result, in terms of winners, at a city track in
25 years of training.”

Here’s Delbridge’s ‘super sextet’: Race 3 – Valor Bale ($3.20F) – 29.52sec (BOD); Race 4 – Circumstance ($5.60) – 30.18sec; Race 5 – Balbina Bale ($2.90F) – 29.62sec; Race 6 – Nitro Bale ($8.50) – 29.67sec; Race 11 – Quincee Bale ($30.30) – 34.50sec; Race 12 – Yachi Bale ($1.90F) – 29.97sec. (Valor Bale and Yachi Bale are litter brothers.)

A $1 ‘all-up’ bet on all six would have returned a massive $25,430.28!

“We thought we could get four winners, but Circumstance and Quincee Bale were surprise packets,” Delbridge said.

“It’s my best result, in terms of winners, at a city track in 25 years of training and out of the 15 we had in only two didn’t earn prizemoney. And to top it off with three winners at Shepparton; it’s the most winners I’ve had in a day!”

Delbridge was also quick in paying tribute to his ‘team’ – including wife, Lisa, and son, Myles, along with kennel-hands Shaun Coulson, Dean Elliot and Debbie White.

“They all deserve a lot of credit and are integral to the success of ‘Team Delbridge’.”

Pawnote: The Delbridge juggernaut rolled on with a treble – courtesy of Impress Browning ($2.90EF), Beatrix Bale ($2.00F) and Spring Hondo ($4.70) – at Shepparton on Monday night.

WATCH: VALOR BALE (B6) was the first – and fastest – of Delbridge’s ‘sensational six’, narrowly defeating litter brother ZOHA BALE (B7).
