Daily Mail: ‘Rupee’ returns to Sandown Park

Premier Racing tonight features two-time G1 winner Aston Rupee racing at Sandown Park for the first time since running 28.94 seconds on February 3.

The 515m Free For All also includes Gypsy Bun and Daph’s Ascend – third and fourth respectively in the G1 Australian Cup Final – and the in-form Kysaiah.

G1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers runner-up Orca lines up in a Mixed 4/5 715m race, while multiple Group finalist Riccarton Rick v G1 finalist Fernando’s Quest and the promising Storm Stroller v G1 finalist Zara’s Ivan should be great battles.

G1 finalist It’s Only Money, G3 winner Plaintiff, and up-and-comers Brewski Bruce and Decimate highlight their respective races at Warrnambool this evening.

The Watchdog says ?: Two-time Group 1 winner ASTON RUPEE (7) should prove too classy for his rivals if he can step on terms and avoid bother at the bend. DAPH’S ASCEND (2) will scrape the paint and she will get a nice run through in the middle stages. The promising KYSAIAH (1) continues to impress and should battle it out for third spot with GYPSY BUN (4).

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

It’s been said many times, but ASTON RUPEE (7) is clearly the fastest chaser on the planet, and I have him in my top-three fastest chasers of all time. He has broken the magical 29-second barrier here on four occasions and with a clear run early, he can make it a fifth time tonight. He meets recent Group 1 Australian Cup finalists DAPH’S ASCEND (2) and GYPSY BUN (4) along with up-and-coming star KYSAIAH (1), however with GYPSY BUN expected to move hard left initially, there should be plenty of room in the middle of the track and the champion can assume control as they head through the bend. He has now had 41 starts and with a stud career beckoning, I’m not sure how many more times we will get to see him on the track, so be sure to tune in tonight and enjoy the show.

The Watchdog’s selections: 7 – 2 – 1 – 4

? $3.50 Place – BUSY TIME
? Sandown Park ? Race 6 ? Box 3 ? 515m ⏱ 8:40pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.50 Place

The Watchdog says
? : I don’t have him in my top four as I believe there are better winning prospects, however he is a nice run-on type and with the leaders expected to bunch at the bend, he should get a great run through and be able to sneak into the top three at nice odds.

? $4.50 Win – OSPREY ROSE
? Sandown Park ? Race 7 ? Box 5 ? 515m ⏱ 9:01pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666540585/race/7

The Watchdog says
? : She hasn’t had a lot of luck in stronger company of late and she is surprisingly well drawn in the middle tonight. There is very little early speed engaged in the inside three boxes and with the speedy NOAH CHARLES (4) expected to head for the rail and show pace, OSPREY ROSE (5) should get a nice cart across and then assume control as they head to the back. SODA SAVILLE (7) is a strong type and well-drawn out wide, however he is likely to be giving away too much of a head start.
