How to spend $20 on the TAB Silver Chief Final

Form guru The Watchdog has touted Weblec Blazer (Box 4) as a “massive chance” at $13 to claim the $100,000 to-the-winner Group 1 TAB Silver Chief final at The Meadows this Saturday night.

“He’s well and truly over the odds and if he can find the fence, he’s going to put himself into contention. You know how strong he is in the run home.”

The form expert is a tad hesitant about race favourite Zippy Tesla (Box 3).

“TAB had put up Zippy Tesla at $2.80 (now $3.20). He’s been enormous in his past two – 29.60sec and 29.77sec – and they’re hard to ignore.

“However, both were from the ‘red’ box. He comes up with the ‘three’, and I think that’s going to be a little bit of a test for him. He’s obviously a great chance, the dog’s got a motor, but at those odds he’s a bit of a risk.”

The Watchdog says Xavien Bale (Box 6) has “the runs on the board” with 47 starts for 13 wins and 14 placings.

“He can spear the lids, so the box draw probably won’t cause any problem. He’s going to get every chance to get across.”

And the form analyst is also buoyant about a couple of “young pups coming through”.

“The inside division, It’s Only Money (Box 1) and Slingshot Jonesy (Box 2), were both super impressive last week.

“It’s Only Money continues to improve with each run; he’s getting stronger. But Slingshot Jonesy is the one for me that was the most impressive.

“The turn of foot he showed through the first turn; he put a good gap on them between the ‘50’ and ‘200’. He’s definitely one to follow and if he can cross the ‘red’, he’s going to be a huge player.”

The Watchdog adds that Titan Blazer (Box 7) and Compliance (Box 8) out wide are “both capable of winning a race like this”.

“However, they are reliant on leading over this journey. I don’t think they’ll get across and at $5 and $8 are under the odds.”
