The Watchdog says ? : BLUE SPOT (2) is capable of running the hands off the clock and he will appreciate the smaller line-up today. HILL TOP JONAH (4) has an amazing record here and he should have no trouble crossing and finding the rail early on. There are a couple of good ones in this event, but he can bust the 19-second barrier and I don’t think they will be able to reel him in. ASTON MERIT (4) is a star in the making and he scorched around Geelong in a trial recently, so he is expected to fire fresh.

Cracking event and it is an extremely open affair. PERFECT COLOUR (4) has been racing in tremendous form of late and he put on a dominant display in his heat. ASTON LATHAM (7) is the new kid on the block, but he is a slow beginner, and he would have preferred a rails draw. SMART AS JACK (6) is a track specialist, and he has been brilliant in his past three. If he can step on terms, he should be in the firing line throughout. SAMBAR CHIEF (8) is the interesting runner. He has won six of eight here (75 percent), however this is the first time he has stepped up to the big time. He has come up with the outside draw and has been sensational in his past three, so with some luck early, he will prove hard to hold out.
