Daily Mail: Seventh heaven for Bareki?

Bareki (16 from 23), aiming to win her seventh straight race, will go up against Group 1 Adelaide Cup finalist and Group 3 Speed Star (525m) placegetter Weblec Blazer (29.65sec PB) in a Grade 5 heat (525m) at The Meadows this afternoon.

G3 finalists Keep It Blue and Lala Ivory clash in the second Grade 5 (525m) heat, while recent G2 Bendigo Cup finalist Perfect Colour (3 of last 5) and Titan Blazer (6 from 13) are expected to dominate their respective Grade 5 (525m) heats.

Valeska Bale v Darra Onyx v Aratuza Bale v Thunder Tears v Nikephoros (2 of last 3 – 2 from 2 Trk/Dst) should provide a thrilling affair in the Mixed 4/5 600m race.

G1 finalists Run Baba Run and Arizona Eyes (29.66sec PB) face Aces Are Trumps (2 of last 4) and Tan Star (4 of last 6), while Viking Junior (2 from 3 Trk/Dst) should prevail according to The Watchdog.

Magnis Bale, Crackerjack Keg (2 of last 4) and Tango Icon headline the 410m Free For All at Horsham, while Halberd Bale v Swift Brittany v Cool Limit will be hotly contested.

Toby Time (5 from 9 Box 1) v It’s A Drama v Dashing Dante v On Time Cash battle in the 311m Free For All at Cranbourne, while Joyful (2 of last 4) v G2 finalist It’s Not Fun v Invictus Jaxson (2 from 2 Box 4) is another strong race.

? MUST-WATCH RACE: GRV Vic Bred Series Heat 1

WEBLEC BLAZER ? BAREKI

? The Meadows ? Race 5 ? 525m 1:22pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539110/race/5

The Watchdog says
?: WEBLEC BLAZER (2) was a recent finalist in the Group 1 Adelaide Cup, and he is one of the most gifted chasers in the business. He has dropped back to a midweeker at The Meadows hopeful of an easy hit out, however he has run into star speedster BAREKI (6). She has gone six-for-six since resuming from a spell and her past two at Bendigo have been enormous. With a staggering 16 wins from 23 starts, she is making her much anticipated metro debut and after the two Bendigo wins, it appears that she has no trouble covering the journey. There is a little bit of early speed drawn on her outside, but very limited pace underneath. With an even getaway, she should be able to light them up at the bend and head to the back with a nice break. She is still likely to get a little tired in the closing stages, however she will be carving out around 29.80sec and that might be good enough to score. The ‘Blazer’ obviously has the class and overall talent edge, but he can miss the start and he will be relying on luck in the middle stages. I think he can lose a length or two in the run and still win but I’m expecting him to lose a little more ground than that and he may have to settle for the quinella spot today. INDY JUNO (3) and FABRIOLA DURAN (5) are both handy types and they must be included in your exotic bets today.

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Wednesday 27 October

? $3 Multi

First
?: Place – BITTER TWIST
? The Meadows ? Race 4 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 12:57pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.10 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539110/race/4

Second
?: Place – BLUE BANDANA
? Horsham ? Race 9 ? Box 1 ? 410m ⏱ 4:44pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.70 Place (Top two finish required)
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539138/race/9

The Watchdog says
? : BITTER TWIST (1) was far from disgraced in his heat placing and he is drawn to get all the breaks. There are a couple of wide runners drawn on his outside, so he should get plenty of cover at the bend and a top three finish looks likely. BLUE BANDANA (1) has a tremendous record from this draw, and he is drawn to be on the speed throughout. He was handily placed here last time and he should be much better for the run.

Multi price:

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539110/race/5

The Watchdog says
? : Going to be a cracking affair and I think BAREKI (6) should be able to sneak away mid race and score. WEBLEC BLAZER (2) is likely to find bother in the run, but he should be able to charge into second or third.

? $1 Win – BIG BOY BROOKE     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? The Meadows ? Race 10 ? Box 3 ? 525m ⏱ 2:50pm
TAB fixed odds: $14 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539110/race/10

The Watchdog says
? : He will need a little luck in the initial stages, but he is a powerful chaser, and he should get a nice run through as they head to the back straight. There is a fair bit of early speed in this event, so I’m expecting there to be some bumping up front and if he can avoid bother, he should be there to strike as they turn for home.

? $4 Win – WEBLEC SCOUT
? Ballarat ? Race 6 ? Box 1 ? 545m ⏱ 8:40pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/712843342/race/6

The Watchdog says
? : He has turned in some stellar performances at Geelong of late and he should be suited to this distance range. From the good draw, he should be able to hold the top early and he will then dial up the heat mid race. The last 20m or so may be a concern, but he should turn for home with a race winning break.
