To The Galo’s was ultra impressive at Sandown Park on Friday night when taking out the $35,500 Ready 2 Race Final (515m).
The win made it a clean sweep of R2R bonus races for the Phil Smith-trained greyhound after he also won the $10,000 Mid-Year Bonus Race at Bendigo (425m) in July.
Both bonus races were open to the top eight prize money earners to emerge from the 2014 Ready 2 Race Sales last November.

“He loves box eight,” Smith said. “He has been a real surprise packet throughout his career and it’s extraordinary how much he has improved.”
To The Galo’s ($5.10) defeated the classy Cut Loose Max ($2.50Fav) and early pacesetter Little Pookie ($25.50) in 29.828sec in Friday’s special event, which was a support race for the Group 2 Shootout.
Smith indicated that the proven ability of To The Galo’s to perform on the big stage had given him the confidence to chase further feature race glory.
“Going back about four months ago he trialled 24.93 at Ballarat, which is low flying, so I may look at racing him in a heat of the Ballarat Cup in a couple of weeks (November 25),” said the trainer from Pascoe Vale South.
