As expected Victoria filled the Quinella in Saturday night’s Group 1 AGRA National Distance Championship (715m) at Cannington.
Sweet It Is overpowered Xylia Allen in the dying moments to score her third Group 1, however, in running second, the latter overtook Miata as Australia’s highest ever prize money earner at $722,625.
This was Victoria’s first National Distance Championship win since Jarvis Bale’s victory at Cannington in 2009.
Meanwhile, a daring performance by Victoria representative Crackerjack Dak in the National Sprint Championship (530m) on the same night wasn’t enough for him to beat NSW greyhound, Chica Destacada.
The last NSW greyhound to win the National Sprint Championship was Smooth Fancy at Angle Park in 2010.
