Hooksy Trumps Egg Runners Again

Victorian youngster Hooksy is a $2.20 favourite with TAB’s fixed odds market to win the Group 3 New Sensation on Saturday night at Wentworth Park.

The Tanya Auld-trained greyhound has run Best of Night times in his past five outings (at Sandown & Wentworth Park), and his semi-final win over 520m on Friday in 29.57sec was more than two lengths faster than the quickest Golden Easter Egg semi-final winner (Evil Punk) at the track the following night.

The son of Hondo Black and Uno Witch won his heat on 4 April in 29.44sec, which was .01sec superior to the fastest Easter Egg heat winner (Keybow) the next day.

Hooksy will be chasing a $25,000 first prize in the final of the age-restricted event.

Other semi-final winners were Irondale Bravo (29.66sec) and My Kinda Music (29.75sec), plus another Victorian-trained greyhound – Bottom Dollar (30.27sec) from the Glenn Rounds kennel.
