FIREBALL REIGNS

Tight finish: Destini Fireball (1) just beats Irma Bale (6) in the Superstayers final

Destini Fireball (Box 1 – $2.00F) maintained his unbeaten record over the 725m at The Meadows, winning the Group 1 Macro Meats Superstayers in a grandstand finish.

At box rise, the Graeme Bate pair of Xylia Allen (Box 4 – $4.80) and Irma Bale (Box 6 – $7.50) flew to the lead while Proven Impala (Box 7 – $5.20) and Destini Fireball positioned behind the leaders.

Xylia Allen again showed amazing speed during the race opening up a comfortable lead over the chasing pack, but the question remained if she could run out the trip better than last week.

Rounding the final bend, Xylia Allen began to tire and kennelmate Irma Bale found room on the inside to take the lead, while Destini Fireball began a storming run down the outside.

In the final strides, Destini Fireball was able to catch Irma Bale and claim the third Group 1 of his career in a time of 42.73, with Mission Complete (Box 3 – $29.60) running on well for third.
