MIATA NATIONAL CHAMP

Australia’s sweetheart, Miata, one of the most talented greyhounds of recent times, has claimed yet another Group 1 in the final of the 2012 National Distance Championship in Hobart.

Starting from Box 6, Miata ($1.30F), flew to the lead and was strong enough to hold off Victorian hope Irma Bale (Box 8 – $9.90), who gallantly stayed on for second and Tasmanian Jethro (Box 3 – $14.70) who finished third.

Not only did Miata win the race, she did so in a track record time of 41.24s.

Miata – trained by 27 year old Paul Stuart – took her career record to a staggering 28 wins from 33 starts and with the $75,000 first prize, her total stakes have broken the $400,000 barrier.
