Straight-track veteran Mile A Minute has emerged as the fastest qualifier for the 2026 Sportsbet Emerald after an intriguing day of heats at Healesville.
Mile A Minute stopped the clock at a slick 16.439 seconds over the 300-metre journey to head the eight qualifiers progressing to the $25,000 feature.
The Emerald’s unique format saw eight four-dog heats contested, with the eight fastest greyhounds across the entire series advancing to the final – regardless of finishing position.
That format provided plenty of drama, with heat winners Electrojet and Divot missing out on a place in the final eight.
At the other end of the qualifying order, Analyzation and Ring did enough to secure their spots, running 16.690 and 16.712 seconds respectively.
“There were plenty of weather changes and a lot to take in throughout the day,” race caller James Van de Maat said during the box draw.
