Miss Envy has etched her name into Australian greyhound racing history with a brilliant victory in the Group 1 National Distance Championship Final (715m) at Sandown Park on Saturday night.

Representing Western Australia, the star stayer produced another performance, leading throughout to claim the national crown in 41.57 seconds.

The victory saw Miss Envy become just the second greyhound to win both a National Sprint and National Distance Championship, having claimed the National Sprint Final at Angle Park in 2024.

“We are so proud of this special dog,” co-trainer Steve Shinners said.

Drawn perfectly in box two, Miss Envy made full use of the inside draw, showing her trademark early speed to take control of the race.

From there, she proved impossible to reel in.

“It’s easy to catch her, but hard to pass her,” Shinners said.

Magpie Hector produced a huge performance to finish second, while Boom Bam Ranger rounded out the placings in third.

The victory further enhances Miss Envy’s remarkable record and puts her name alongside some of the most versatile greyhounds the sport has seen.

Her deeds now draw comparisons with champion Fanta Bale, who famously won Group 1 races across sprint, middle-distance and staying journeys during her extraordinary career.

And despite Miss Envy now being four years of age, Shinners quickly dismissed any suggestion Saturday night’s historic triumph could be one of her last appearances on the racetrack.

“As long as she pulls up well, she will keep racing – especially when she is racing like this,” Shinners said.

After conquering the nation as a sprinter in 2024 and now as a stayer in 2026, Miss Envy has secured a unique place in greyhound racing history.
