Meadows tips, star Off The Chart the headline act

Action at The Meadows tonight is clearly highlighted by superstar sprinter Off The Chart. Since winning the prestigious Golden Easter Egg in early April, he’s been beaten in both of his starts since. He lines up in Race 4 (7.35pm) and against a standard of opposition that’s far inferior to the ones he’s used to. He’s not a betting proposition, but the eyes of Australian greyhound fans will be on him.

BEST
Race 11, Reality Secret (6)
She missed the start slightly last outing but she’s one that generally begins well. There’s not a great deal of early intensity in this race and I think she will go forward. She’s first up on the big stage of metropolitan racing but I don’t think the distance is an issue for her. I’m confident her best will be good enough.

NEXT BEST
Race 9, Mepunga Spirit (8)
He’s not a greyhound that scorches out of the boxes but he builds speed quickly and hits the corner hard. The wide draw gives him every chance to be able to do this and hook around them. I’m nervous about Paw Farok (1) but not sure he’s as quick as Spirit overall.

VALUE
Race 12, Meaningful (4)
Her last last win was pretty good, despite the time being only average there could be some improvement given her youth and lack of experience. She will race in the middle of the track but there will be room to do that. I have concerns about the consistency of the favourite Motorsport (1) and Paw Xantippe’s (8) best runs haven’t come from this draw.

WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
Race 2, Tarbhach (1)
This greyhound is desperate to get to the widest part of the track, which means box 1 is no good for him. He’s had some good performances lately but they’ve all been from suitable wide boxes, it’s his numerical form that has him almost favourite. I’m not sure how he could get clear running from this draw.
