It’s a solid card at Sandown Park tonight, with the highlight being the Race 6, the Free-For-All, featuring gun sprinter Paw Oswald. Following tonight we look forward to Sportsbet Horsham Cup heats tomorrow evening which features Australian Cup winner Dramatical – click here for the highlights.

BEST
Race 4, Neo Devere (6)
His form has been consistent and this speed map says he’ll have the outside part of the track to himself early. Speed will come from Paw Isla (1) but if Neo Devere settles on her tail then he will be stronger than her late in the race. There’s strong types in this so it’s crucial that Neo Devere begins well, which I think he will.
NEXT BEST
Race 8, Nigel Devere (6)
A race of greyhounds with strengths and weaknesses but I think at this point in time he’s the best all rounder of them. He consistently begins well and goes forward. The times in his past few runs have been in slowish conditions, so he should be able to run faster than those times suggest, which has him as a big chance in this.
VALUE
Race 3, Glimmering (2)
She looks better than her form suggests. She doesn’t like forcing moves and waits for the easy option, but that could present to her tonight. She steps from the boxes pretty well, Velvet Lass (1) has no speed and Little Monkey (3) may step wide initially. We’re also relying on the favourite Mepunga Turbo (7) to make a mistake which is a decent chance. Glimmering was as much as $10 this morning and I feel that’s value.
WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
Race 1, Lakeview Pear (4)
He goes well and he’s strong, but to me he’s no standout as the pathway early won’t be clean given his lack of early speed. The Pear can win, but at $1.70 there’s no value whatsoever in that hence me being more than happy to take him on.
