Tips on an expected wet night at Sandown Park

It’s a reasonable meeting at Sandown Park tonight with the highlight being the Free-For-All, Race 9.

It’s amongst a heap of Pink Diamond action – the races you should keep an eye on.

BEST
Race 1, Gnarlack (2)
It’s not a card that screams best bets but Gnarlack looks to have a big opportunity here to win another city race. He’s far from a star but he’s a trier and there’s not much else to like in this race – they’d have to improve to beat him. As long as he’s within four lengths mid-race he’s going to be hard to hold out.

BEST VALUE
Race 2, Magic Scotch (4)
Her ability is better than her form suggests, she wants it the easy way during her races and tonight’s field could present that. I don’t think the favourite Paw Raelia (5) will run out the distance well enough, Handsome Ratio (1) is our biggest danger. At double figure odds Magic Scotch represents value.

NEXT BEST VALUE
Race 5, Parumba Jazzman (2)
This race has a speed map that he could be the beneficiary of. He’s really keen to race on the rail, Paw Zhana (1) should begin well then leave a door open underneath her for the Jazzman to target. With modest speed throughout the middle part of the field he looks a decent each-way play concentrated on the place.

WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
Race 4, Paw Quinby (1)
I think the step back up to this distance (715m) is a stretch for him. He will be upfront with the leader throughout the race then probably give up the lead in the very closing stages. Happy to be against him as favourite.

QUADDIE
Race 5: 1,2,4,8
Race 6: 1,3,7
Race 7: 1
Race 8: 1,4,6,8
