Tips for The Meadows tonight, meeting heats up late

It’s a very tame meeting at The Meadows tonight, however it does heat up late.

Highlights start in Race 4 with gun sprinter He’s A Pearl, in Race 9 we see the rocket Distinction against Mav Reiko and then we’re treated to two very strong contests in Race 10 and Race 11.

No doubt many are having their last test before honing in on Sandown Park, with heats of the Harrison-Dawson (for male sprinters), Sapphire Crown (for female sprinters) and the Sportsbet Sandown Cup.

BEST BET (PLACE)
Race 9, Mav Reiko (2)
He comes up against Distinction (8) who should win the race at extremely short odds. Mav Reiko is $2.10 to place (run 2nd given no third dividend) and he’s highly likely to do that. Aside from Distinction he’s better than the other dogs and should have room to accelerate and settle forward.

NEXT BEST
Race 11, Highly Potent (8)
She was supported when markets opened this morning and I can see why. She should lead this race with no opposition early, however they will charge late and especially Paw Damon (2). Highly Potent will have a big lead and is every chance to hold on to it as they cross the line.

WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
Race 11, Vista Weird (8)
I think he can win but he’s odds on against some other good dogs, which seems too short to me. The inside three greyhounds can all run similar time to what Vista Weird can and at a quote of odds on, I reckon it’s under the odds.
