Hurricane back to Sandown Park in full force

The violently in-form Hurricane returns to Sandown Park this Thursday after blowing up The Meadows on Saturday.

His time of 34.039 over 600m, is the third fastest in the past year behind track record holder Caco Magic (33.910) and Echoes Of Dad (34.026), and the 11th fastest since 2020.

He’s now won five in-a-row and is red lining with confidence. Despite an average time of 29.36 in his four wins at Sandown, then what we saw on Saturday night, he’s yet to be really put under the pump.

What more could he have done? Nothing. It’s just now he’s got the test of a good field from a bad draw. If he lights it up again, is it too early for a crack at the Sportsbet Sandown Cup?

He’ll jump from Box 6 in Race 7 at Sandown Park this Thursday night.

He meets Gambella who we know is a rocket, but she’s highly vulnerable from a draw like the pink. As we see in the Race Data, her run home was good last week, but she’s drifting back in the field from these draws and it makes things difficult.

None the less it’s a great race and we look forward to it.
