The 2024 Pink Diamond series culminated at Shepparton on Saturday night which was filled with not only exceptional performances on the track but emotional scenes off it as well.

Both maiden events were taken out by Team Greenough and owner Greg Sprod – Flaming Wheels and Zeus Thunderbolt were exceptional in the Maiden Short Course and Maiden Sprinter respectively. The combination was again to the fore in the Rookie Short Course with Unleash In Miami.

Power Paws was an impressive winner in the Princess Final for the Kellie Morrison/Justin Booker and family – a career highlight for them and a launching pad for future success. See an interview with the family below.

Reiterate strengthened his potential as a future staying star with a dominant win in the Rookie Distance final for Jeff Britton and owner Jarrod Sharp.

The Champion Short Course event produced the biggest upset of the night when Wrong Bias triumphed with a $26 starting price. His first section was electric and provided the win for rising trainer David Kerr and the Connell family.

Confidence oozed out of Graeme Jose in an interview prior to the Rookie Sprinter event which was justified by Champagne Cuddle. He’s owned by Deb Cumes and won comfortably in fast time.

Form expert Nathan Rooney was bullish on the chances of Crackerjack Aret on the broadcast and he wasn’t let down in the Champion Sprinter event. For trainer Jordan Cooper and his family it was another moment of success for what’s been an exceptional litter.

The Champion Distance event saw Ethanol Volume make full use of a favourable wide draw. He’s one of the many greyhounds produced by Team Dailly who is justifying their investment in breeding and through an international sire in Droopys Sydney.

Mepunga Mustang upset the popular Silver Brute in the Veterans event. With his wide running habits he took advantage of box seven and proved too strong late for trainer Jeff Britton and Barry Smith.

Barty Crouch was a comfortable winner of the Challenger Sprinter – trained, owned and bred by the Cockerell family.

The Challenger Short Course was won by Rolling Storm for mother and son duo Bev and Daniel Pell. A litter they bred which included gun sprinter Mackenna.
