The Stir Up | Sapphire Crown/Harrison-Dawson Finals Edition

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Quilts  Gents, Premier Racing doesn’t get much better than this with Group 1 finals of the Sapphire Crown and Harrison-Dawson and four heats of the Group 1 Sandown Cup tonight.

Gerard  Will the reigning Sapphire Crown champion Wow She’s Fast (Box 7) claim her fourth Group 1 title? The dual Phoenix winner returned to form with the fastest heat victory.

Trent  Wow She’s Fast is facing quality opposition, Gerard, including Baby Jaycee (Box 6). Can she finally secure an elusive Group 1 victory after three runner-up finishes at the highest level?

Quilts  Kelsey Bale (Box 4) tasted defeat for the first time in her last seven starts last Thursday night, but trainer Daniel Gibbons informed me that “she’s full of confidence and ready to go”.

Gerard  Will a new star be crowned? Magic Muffin (Box 1) is promising with seven wins from 17 starts, while Plagiarise (Box 5) won her heat after seven months away from the track. What a final!

Trent  The Sportsbet Sapphire Crown Final (Race 8) directly follows the Sportsbet Harrison-Dawson Final (Race 7) with Group 1 winner Amron Boy the headline act.

Gerard  I spoke to co-trainer Jamie Ennis this week about Amron Boy and he is happy with the draw (Box 2) and confident that “he’ll get his chance”.

Quilts  Trooper Tears (Box 6) got the better of Amron Boy last Thursday night. The Launching Pad winner can extend his winning run to six races. Don’t forget about his litter brother Trapper Tears (Box 4) after his heat win.

Trent  Fred Rose (Box 1) has won four of his last six, Dundee Smokey (Box 5) was the quickest heat winner, and Stealth (Box 8) has won at Group 3 level. There’s plenty of hopes in this race.

Quilts  The four heats of the Group 1 Sportsbet Sandown Cup compliment one of the best nights of chasing I can remember. Greyhound racing fans should appreciate it and savour it.
