The Stir Up featuring Gypsy Wyong, Panama Canal and Quinlan Bale

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Peter  You have your heart in your mouth when Triumph begins a race, but he looks electrifying when he comes from last to win as he did at Sandown Park last night.

Gerard  Hector Fawley didn’t come from last at Angle Park, but his victory in a heat of the Group 3 SA Derby after suffering interference was huge and he’s a big chance in the final.

Trent  Gents, it was great to see Gypsy Wyong return to form last Saturday night and the four-time Group 1 champion is a big chance in tomorrow night’s Group 3 Top Cat Video Cup Final.

Peter  Don’t forget how confident Michelle Mallia was about Aston Velvet before the heats, Trent. The Pink Diamond Champion Distance winner was a gallant runner-up to Play Nice.

Gerard  Quilts, I spoke to Rob Britton this week about Play Nice, trained by Rob’s son Tim, and he admitted Play Nice will need luck from Box 8, but he cannot be discounted.

Trent  Best of luck to the Victorian greyhounds heading to Wentworth Park for the Million Dollar Chase city qualifiers headlined by Group 1 performers Zippy Tesla and Dusty Bourbski.

Peter  Then we move to Sunday for the Group 2 Healesville Cup Final. You can make a legitimate case for all eight finalists in this star-studded field.

Trent  You’re spot on, Quilts. New South Wales visitor Sacred Stance is all class, Panama Canal loves the straight, James van de Maat tipped Action Girl in May, and Unleash Collinda has won six from 10.

Peter  I chatted with Daniel Gibbons this week, and he believes that Quinlan Bale could break 19 seconds if he gets a clear run. Nicolson Bale will need to get his timing right.

Gerard  And then there’s the country cup specialists. Ferdinand Boy is going for back-to-back Healesville Cups and his fifth country cup, while Typhoon Sammy has won this year’s Traralgon and Horsham Cups.

Keep an eye on @greyhoundracingvic on Instagram, GRVictoria on Facebook and @WatchDogRacing on Twitter this Sunday for coverage of the Group 2 Healesville Cup Final.
