‘Dashing’ Mr. Audacious

You couldn’t blame Mr. Audacious for prancing around with a ‘bold’ stride.

In just one start, this aptly named 22-month-old tyro showed he’s ‘audacious’ by name and nature!

Mr. Audacious (Box 5) contests a $7750 to-the-winner GRV Vic Bred Maiden final (395m) – Race 3, 7.18pm – at Traralgon tonight. He’s a $1.85 pop on TAB.

But his dashing debut in a heat last week proved he’s already one of the sport’s most exciting prospects.

Trained at Kilmany by Rachael Busuttil, Mr. Audacious scored by 7.8 lengths and clocked a sizzling 21.53sec.

It’s the equal fastest time registered since the new ‘J-curve’ track opened and shared with G2 Traralgon Cup winner, Typhoon Sammy.

His Rosedale owner Kevin Wainwright has knocked back two offers for the Apr ’20 Beast Unleashed x Audacious Bell wunderkind and is adamant “he’s not for sale at any price”.

The first overture came from his ‘educator’ while being broken-in at 16 months of age and the figure is believed to have been around $30,000.

“Tex has got his name on the sofa at home when he finishes racing.”

And an undisclosed second proffer followed his 21.79sec success at the Traralgon ‘picnic meeting’.

Mr. Audacious ($2.30F) received solid support on debut after punters ‘heard on the grapevine’ he’d trialled sensationally at Traralgon in the lead-up.

“We trialled him on the Monday prior and he went 21.65sec,” Busuttil said. “He had four trials at Traralgon and got quicker each time.”

Busuttil added that Mr. Audacious had been in her kennels for three months and it wasn’t long before she knew he was a potential star.

“He’s been showing a lot of promise; he’s got it in him. He may be country cups bound; he’s definitely good enough.”

Mr. Audacious was bred at Boisdale by Stephanie Tyler of ‘Collinda’ fame under an arrangement with Wainwright and his wife, Di.

“He was shining like a shilling when he came to us. He was in such good nick,” Busuttil said.

“And Di says, ‘Tex has got his name on the sofa at home when he finishes racing’.
