Daily Mail: Typhoon warning for Geelong

Bendigo 425m track record holder Typhoon Sammy runs at Geelong tonight for the first time since winning a heat of the G1 Melbourne Cup.

Titan Blazer v dual G2 placed Fortuna Bale v Luca’s Jebrynah v Weblec Raider should be hotly contested at Geelong as well.

Rilynn Bale and Dynamic Prince highlight their respective races at Warragul, while dual Group finalist Benchester should light up Bendigo.

The Watchdog says
? : He has only had the four starts, but he appears to be the real deal. He recorded a blistering 22.58sec debut win here in November and although beaten in his next three runs, he has turned in some colossal performances. I’m expecting him to step well this afternoon, and he should then be able to punch through and hold the top through the bend and score.

The Watchdog says
? : HILLBILLY LASS (8) is ideally drawn out wide and she has the speed to make every post a winner. She has good early burn and will stay off the track throughout, so she gets her chance to break through tonight. BENCHESTER (1) is a prolific winner, and he has come up with the good draw tonight. He is normally reliable at box rise and he should be able to fire through and hold the early lead. If that occurs, I can’t see them reeling him in.

The Watchdog says ?: TYPHOON SAMMY (5) is a rocket and should be leading throughout. SHIMA PUNGA (3) has dynamic mid race pace and with a clear passage, he can sneak into the quinella position, while we have gone wide for third spot.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

TYPHOON SAMMY (5) makes his return to the track after capturing a heat of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup. He trialled on Monday around The Meadows and he carved out a blistering 400m before getting tired, so he will be better suited back to this distance range. He is one of the best 450m chasers in the land and with a clear run early, he should be able to go sub 25.40sec. SHIMA PUNGA (3) has star potential, and he is armed with dynamic mid race pace. If the favourite happens to make a mistake, he will be there to capitalise. SUBSTANTIAL (4) and QUINTANA BALE (8) won’t be too far away.
