In case you missed it

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of runs from around Victoria that have caught the eye over the past fortnight.

#1 ASTON RUPEE (Box 3)
Breeding: Apr ’19 KC And All x Aston Miley
Trainer: Glenn Rounds, Pearcedale
Record: 26 starts 14-7-4
Dale says: Hard to go past arguably one of the fastest wins seen anywhere this century when Aston Rupee slashed two lengths off Hard Style Rico’s Sandown Park track record (28.91sec). The performance reinforced his status as the fastest dog on the planet. Aston Rupee came out running clocking a flying 5.01sec first sectional before heading through the second sectional in a sizzling 18.58sec. His run home time of 10.11sec rounded off the perfect performance creating new figures for the 515m trip when stopping the clock in a stunning 28.79 secs.   Results

#2 ELEORA BALE (Box 7)
Breeding: Mar ’19 Allen Deed x Houston Bale
Trainer: Nicole Cachia, Anakie
Record: 33 starts 5-1-6
Dale says: After a slow beginning she was posted wide going through the first turn and found herself at the rear of the field. Spotting the leaders a healthy start she displayed brilliant track sense by weaving inside and then around her rivals before powering home to record an eye-catching last-to-first victory.   Results

#3 LALA HIBISCUS (Box 3)
Breeding: May ’19 Aussie Infrared x Lala Shim
Trainer: Donna Knight, Talbot
Record: 36 starts 5-4-5
Dale says: With only moderate form going into this race and starting at the luxurious odds of $23, not many could have predicted a win like this. After being burnt off early and settling at the rear of the field, she made steady ground as they approached the home turn but looked a place chance at best. However, ‘Lala’ went into turbo mode up the home straight and absolutely sprouted wings to record an unlikely yet brilliant victory.   Results

#4 ABELERO BALE (Box 1)
Breeding: Jan ’18 Allen Deed x Ivy Bale
Trainer: Mark Delbridge, Balliang
Record: 79 starts 17-15-13
Dale says: Having his 78th race start in a strong Mixed 4/5 Grade race, his effort to run second here was outstanding. After a good beginning he lost his position and was shuffled back to worse than midfield as they raced down the back straight. Once balanced, he hooked to the outside and turned on the after-burners, rocketing home to fall just short of victory.   Results
