Demons & Ruby are ‘gems’!

TAB has created a ‘sparkling’ AFL/Greys offer that should have Melbourne fans hearts beating true.

The betting behemoth has put up $3.50 for the Demons to defeat the Cats on Friday night and distance queen Mepunga Ruby to reign supreme at The Meadows on Saturday night.

The Dees clawed back a third quarter 44pt deficit to upset the Cats with a last-kick win in Round 23 and claim the ‘minor premiership’.

And they booked a spot in Preliminary Final 1 with a 33pt win over the Brisbane Lions in the first week of the finals.

In contrast, Geelong lost their qualifying final to Port Adelaide by 43pts before steamrolling the GWS Giants by 35pts in a semi-final.

The Cats have a history of failing to get to the ‘big dance’, despite reaching 12 of the last 18 preliminary finals. They have only made the Grand Final twice in the last 13 years since winning the flag in 2007.

Meanwhile, Mepunga Ruby – prepared at Anakie by Jeff Britton – is engaged in the G3 Top Cat Video Cup final (725m). A winner of 12 races from 19 starts, including of 10 of her past 13, Mepunga Ruby is a $2.15F on TAB’s fixed odds market.

She’s also won two from three over this track/distance with a 42.60sec PB.

Arguably Victoria’s No. 1 stayer, Mepunga Ruby won the Pink Diamond Rookie Distance final (660m) at Bendigo in June. And last month, she snared the G3 Speed Star (725m) at The Meadows.

Bounce down for tonight’s Melbourne vs Geelong Cats clash at Optus Stadium in Perth is 7.50pm, while Mepunga Ruby is in Race 8 Box 1 at 6.38pm tomorrow night.

Pawnote: TAB has also set the following markets: Run To The Rose/Top Cat Video Cup (Anamoe/Mepunga Ruby) – $6.00; Makybe Diva Stakes/Healesville Cup (Incentivise (top 3)/Tiggerlong Tonk) – $5.50; Top Cat Video Cup/Healesville Cup (Mepunga Ruby/Tiggerlong Tonk) – $6.50.

WATCH:Staying siren Mepunga Ruby (5) continues her sparkling form in a G3 Top Cat Video Cup heat at The Meadows last week.
