After missing out on Group 1 glory last Saturday night, The Watchdog is confident that Mr. Fix It can atone at The Meadows tonight.
The third placegetter in the G1 Maturity Classic has a terrific record at The Meadows (9 from 17 Trk/Dst – 29.75sec PB) and is a strong chance to claim his fourth victory from his last six starts.
His main dangers appear to be G1 Hume Cup finalist Fabriola Zad (won 15 races), who has not raced since June 10, G3 finalist Plan Ahead and dual country cups placegetter Bobby The Brute.
Also at The Meadows, G2 Geelong Gold Cup winner Weblec Jet returned from a spell with a victory at Horsham and he steps up against fellow group winners Jax Bale (Cranbourne Cup) and Kuro Kismet (Launching Pad).
Three-time Group finalist Do It won his 600m debut at The Meadows last Saturday night, but 2019 G1 Sale Cup winner Weblec Eagle will provide a stern test.
The promising Gypsy Wyong (7 from 12 – 2 from 2 Trk/Dst) is tipped to continue her meteoric rise, while G3 Fireball runner-up Star Blazer should go one better this evening.
At Bendigo tonight, two-time G2 Shepparton Cup finalist and former TR holder Benchester (24 from 67) is fancied to notch another win.

The Watchdog says ?: Hot affair and last start Group 1 placegetter MR. FIX IT (2) is going to take a power of beating. He was a half length away from crossing and being off and gone in the Maturity Classic last week, however after being pushed wide at the bend, he still managed to pick himself up and battle on gamely for third spot. With limited early zip coming out of the red alley, he should have no trouble pouncing on the lead and he is very hard to get past when he can dictate terms. FABRIOLA ZAD (1) owns a blistering 29.78sec PB here and he is a powerful type when 100% fit. He comes into this after around seven weeks off and, being fresh, he should be able to settle a little closer than normal. He may be a run short to be able to reel the top elect in, but he shouldn’t be too far away as they near the finish line. BOBBY THE BRUTE (6) is a powerhouse sprinter, and he has been enormous since resuming. The empty draw will help his chances, however I still would have preferred him drawn closer to the rail. CARRY ON STAR (7) is another one of the ‘big guns’ and, if she can spear the lids, she will put herself into contention. There is limited pace directly around her, however the inside division too have plenty of early zip and she may be posted three or four wide into the bend. I have left her out of my top four based on that, but if she clears them, she is a huge chance to score. PLAN AHEAD (3) rounds out the main chances. He is rising in class tonight, but he has turned in some stellar performances of late and he should get a nice run through at the first bend.
