Daily Mail: Gwen looks good at The Meadows!

Five-time Group finalist Aston Gwen is the headline act at The Meadows on Wednesday afternoon, while at Ballarat’s meeting Interrogate will put the ‘hard questions’ to prolific speedster Zipping Zarbo.

Versatile G2 Laurels heroine Aston Gwen (18 from 63 – 5 from 13 Trk/Dst) has been mixing distances at The Meadows with great effect and after finding star speedster Fernando Bluey too slippery last week  today’s assignment looks ideal.

Talented youngster Curator (2 from 5) will make his first appearance at The Meadows, having sped around Sandown Park in 29.30sec two starts back.

At Ballarat, another young gun, the superbly-bred Revolution (2 from 2 Trk/Dst) will be ‘must watch’ viewing as he strives to continue the unbeaten start to his career, having clocked a sizzling BON 25.01sec last week.

The Ballarat card will also feature an enthralling match-up between Interrogate (11 from 31 – 3 from 5 Box 2) and G2 Warragul Cup finalist Zipping Zarbo (26 from 57 – 3 from 5 Box 8).

Another great clash will pit  Aston Mireya (12 from 40 – 4 from 14 Trk/Dst) up against Slingshot Titan (28 from 54 – 3 of past 4).

Meanwhile at Cranbourne, two experienced distance performers will lock horns over 699m with I’m Easy Boys (21 wins), a G3 Fireball finalist at The Meadows last weekend, facing G1 WA Galaxy finalist Jayville Slick (14 wins).

Other notable Cranbourne contenders include the well-bred Aston Geneve, a daughter of former star Secret Spell, an eye-catching last start debut winner at the track, and track specialist Stebonheath Lad (9 from 19 – 6 from 9 Trk/Dst).

? MUST-WATCH RACE: BOTTLE-O Mixed 6/7 Heat 1

REVOLUTION ? The Clock

? Ballarat ? Race 4 ? 450m 7:58pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541510/race/4

The Watchdog says ?: REVOLUTION (7) has burst on the scene with two blistering wins at Ballarat and it appears that Harry Manolitsis has another potential star on his hands. He managed to improve four lengths on his debut run last time out and the most impressive part was that he managed to find two lengths between the first marker and finish line, so with natural progression he should give the 25 seconds barrier a shake. I’m looking forward to seeing him eventually make the step up to 500m. ZIPPY WISEMAN (8) is an improving type and he has raced well here to date. While I don’t think he can press the top elect, he can definitely sneak into the quinella spot. FABRIOLA DURAN (5) and ASTON WONDER (6) are both handy types and punters should include them in their exotic bets.

DONNY ROCKS (1) is an improving type who is drawn to get every chance today, whilst EIGHT BALL (1) will appreciate the big drop in class and there should be no excuses from the rails draw.

The Watchdog says
? : RUSH OUT (7) should be able to light them up soon after box rise and score easily, whilst GINTOKI BALE (4) continues to improve with each run and he looks suitably graded tonight. ZIPPING ZARBO (8) is a star speedster and should be leading throughout. PAUA OF MINDY (7) is a star prospect and, with an ounce of luck early, she should get the cash.

Multi price: $4.62

? $1 Trifecta – 7 / 8 / 2,3,5,6 (25%)
? $1 Trifecta – 7 / 2,3,5,6 / 8 (25%)
? Ballarat ? Race 4 ? 450m ⏱ 7:58pm
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541510/race/4

The Watchdog says ? : REVOLUTION (7) is a star prospect, and he should make light work of this line-up, whilst ZIPPY WIESMAN (8) should settle in the top two early and he can take home some of the minor money. We have gone a little wide to fill the other spot in the trifecta.

? $3 WIN – FREYA BALE
? Ballarat ? Race 11 ? Box 2 ? 390m ⏱ 10:21pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666541510/race/11

The Watchdog says ? : FREYA BALE (2) has been luckless since her two impressive Bendigo wins when kicking off her career, and she will be looking to make amends tonight. She has blistering early speed and she shouldn’t have too much trouble holding the top through the bend. The drop in class is a big plus and she can repay the faith we have put in her, as she has been costly of late.
