Aussie Secret (22 from 45 – 3 from past 4) is tuning up for next week’s Victorian Straight Track Championship series and his clash v country champ Benchester (23 from 65) today at Healesville (350m) looms as a beauty!
Aussie Secret (G1 Silver Chief finalist) makes his Healesville debut while Benchester (dual G2 Shepparton Cup finalist) boasts a slick 19.19sec PB.
However, this dynamic duo may not get things their own way, with Carry On Angel (3rd G1 Harrison-Dawson) to make his debut up the straight, and then there’s Untested (1), who The Watchdog has tipped to cause an upset at big odds.
Later on the card, Coolant (10 from 18 – 5 of past 7) – one of expert form analyst The Watchdog’s ‘Bets of the Day’ on this fixture – is ‘running hot’ and should get ‘punting motors’ started, while Louie Lou (6 from 12) tackles a feature final after being a dominant heat winner last week.
At Sandown Park this afternoon, Kuro Kismet (6 from 12 Trk/Dst) is the ‘big ticket’. The G3 Launching Pad winner boasts a flying 29.18sec PB over the 515m circuit.
And, at Sale tonight, a freshened up Sovereign Wind (3rd G3 Great Chase) – should be ‘gone like the wind’!

The Watchdog says ?: Awesome line-up and we get to see superstar sprinter AUSSIE SECRET (2) go to work. He recently captured the rich Pink Diamond Champion Sprint Final at Bendigo and he has followed that up with a breathtaking 22.39sec Warragul win. He is having his first look at the track today and that may be a slight concern as he will want to head to the outside soon after box rise. UNTESTED (1) turned in a colossal performance here two runs back and he should get plenty of cover in the initial stages. His box manners are normally rather good, and he does possess a great turn of foot once balanced, so if he can reproduce something like his run here two starts back, he can cause a minor upset. BENCHESTER (7) is a prolific winner, and he has won here previously in a sizzling 19.19sec. If he can clear the inside division early, he will figure in the finish. CARRY ON ANGEL (8) is a Group 1 placegetter, and he has been dominant in his past two in town. He is having his first start here today and he would probably prefer a rails draw. However, if he can get balanced mid race, he can run over the top of them in the closing stages. BLACKPOOL ASTRO (6) is always a chance in these races, but he too would have preferred a rails draw.
