Ferdinand Boy may just be the best drawn greyhound in Saturday night’s $67,000 G2 CKH Painting Shepparton Cup Final (450m) after coming up with Box 8.
David Geall’s emerging star has exited the pink alley on six occasions for five wins throughout his 28 start career, a strike rate of 83%, and he appears great value after opening up at $6.50 in the final.
Also in Ferdinand Boy’s favour is the fact that Box 8 has produced the second most winners (15.72%) of any draw over Shepparton’s 450m trip in the past 12 months.
Somewhat surprisingly, Box 4 has produced the most winners over Shepparton’s 450m trip in the past year, with 98 victories from the blue alley from 606 starters prior to Monday’s heats night.
Benchester, the current track record holder over Shepparton’s shorter 385m trip, is drawn in Box 4 in the final, and his record of six wins from 12 starts from the ‘squeeze’ box suggests he could have a major say in the outcome.
Trained by Mark Morrissey, Benchester is the rank outsider at $26, while the favourite is Catch The Thief at $3.30.
