WEDNESDAY WHISPER – ASTON PEREGRINE

Expect Aston Peregrine to ‘fly like the wind’ at Ballarat tonight.

That’s expert form analyst The Watchdog’s prognostication after selecting Aston Peregrine as his ‘Bet of the Night’.

The Paul Abela-trained speedster should ‘swoop’ on her five rivals in a Mixed 4/5 over 545 metres.

Aston Peregrine, who has notched seven wins, two seconds and one third from 17 starts, had a ‘wing on every paw’ when she made an auspicious 31.03sec winning debut last month over Ballarat’s middle distance trip. And she looks like repeating the dose tonight.

It should also be noted that she contested the Peter Mosman Opal final (520m) at Wentworth Park, Sydney, in mid-July. (She posted a sizzling 29.77sec heat win.)
Aston Peregrine also boasts slick wins at Sandown Park (515m) – 29.33sec and The Meadows (525m) – 29.89sec.

Based at Parwan, Abela will be chasing a double on the program. He also has Dam The Man (Race 12, Box 5), who is The Watchdog’s top pick, engaged in a Grade 5 (390m).

A winner of seven races (with eight placings) from 20 starts, Dam The Man registered a smart 22.33sec over Ballarat’s short course on August 2.

Check out Aston Peregrine (box one) clocking a 31.03sec victory over 545m at Ballarat on August 28:
