Victorian tracks will begin to transition to new double lure arms following a successful and positive trial period.
The decision has been made following a recommendation from University of Technology Sydney combined with industry feedback that the double lure arm version trialled at The Meadows, Bendigo and Cranbourne had greyhounds more engaged throughout their races.
The transition to the two lure arm will begin at Sandown and Warragul on October 3.
Remaining tracks will transition in the coming months following the completion of infrastructure modifications.
GRV are working on a design that will allow Geelong’s finish on lure to accommodate two lures and a modified version for straight track racing at Healesville.
GRV regulates the sport of greyhound racing in the state of Victoria under the Racing Act 1958 (Act), which includes setting standards and ensuring they are met by participants.
Sandown hosted a ‘footy finals’ themed Great Chase this year, with 120 participants
