SUNDAY SPECIAL – STARTRON

Track specialist Startron (Race 6, Box 1) lines up for his second successive Group 3 Healesville Cup over 350 metres today.

Last year, he finished fifth behind Kouta Mayhem (18.90sec), beaten just over two and a half lengths.

But The Watchdog is tipping he’ll make amends in this year’s $47,000-to-the-winner final.

Trained at Pearcedale by Wayne Vassallo, Startron boasts a phenomenal record at Healesville – 18 starts for 11 wins, four seconds and one third. He also has an 18.93sec PB on the straight track, established in late January this year.

Startron’s overall record reads 31 wins, 10 seconds and four thirds from 57 starts. And he’s undefeated in two starts from the ‘red’ alley.

In last week’s heats, Startron clocked the second fastest heat win (18.97sec) – only eclipsed by Friday Frothies (18.94sec), which equates to around a half-length.

Check out Startron’s sizzling Healesville Cup heat win, from box six:
