Tuerong trainer Mario Briganti has a two-pronged attack at Sandown Park today. He prepares the closely related PotenteRocks and Punk Lass Rocks, both of which are The Watchdog’s top selection in their respective events.
A half-sister of Potente Rocks dam (Angie Rocks), Punk Lass Rocks steps up to a Grade Six, over 515 metres, after a slashing 29.72sec victory here last week.
Ironically, her two wins from 11 starts have come on this track. She also saluted in 29.72sec on June 2.
Meanwhile, Potente Rocks (Race 3, Box 5) makes his race debut in a Maiden heat over 515 metres.
Pawnote: Obviously, ability runs deep in this ‘family tree’, as Angie Rocks finished second in three Group race finals, including the 2015 Group 1 Sapphire Crown, during her illustrious race career which netted 13 wins and 11 placings from 40 starts.
