White duo to tackle Maturity

Trainer Steve White will take a very strong hand into Saturday night’s Group 1 Maturity Classic Final (525m) at The Meadows in Sennachie, the $3 TAB favourite, and $5 chance Tauwitchere.

Both were impressive heat winners, with Sennachie securing qualifying honours when clocking 29.73s, his sixth win from his past seven starts, highlighted by the Group 1 Brisbane Cup.
Tauwitchere, winner of the Group 2 Launching Pad at Sandown in April, clocked 29.99s at her second start since resuming from a two-month injury-enforced layoff.
However, White’s hopes of continuing his stellar 2019 in the $100,000 to-the-winner Maturity nosedived when Sennachie drew the outside alley and Tauwitchere was allocated box five.

“The box draw brings Sennachie back to the rest of the field and five makes it tough for Tauwitchere too,” White said.

“They’re both fit and healthy; it’s just a matter of them spearing those lids now.

“There’s a few lengths between Sennachie and Tauwitchere but if Tauwitchere leads she’s going to be hard to beat.”

The Maturity is race 8, to jump at 9.42pm.
