FRIDAY FLUTTER – NERVOUS AN WEIRD

His name probably doesn’t put punters in a relaxed state of mind. But bettors can rest easy knowing Nervous An Weird will take a power of beating in the GRV Vic Bred Series Grade Five Final over 460 metres at Geelong tonight.

The Andrew Paraskevas-trained greyhound has notched 20 wins from 34 starts and is chasing his fourth successive victory, having been first past the post at his last three racetrack outings – including a stunning Best of Night 25.53sec heat win.

Nervous An Weird is a veritable flying machine early in his races, and he’ll prove the testing material for his rivals if he ‘pings the lids’ in the final. Box five shouldn’t pose any dilemma either, as he’s posted two wins and a second placing in three starts from the ‘yellow’ trap.

And Nervous An Weird also has the class factor, having contested four Group race finals. Last year, he won the Derby at Angle Park (SA) and was a finalist in the Warragul St Leger. This year, he has finished runner-up in the Bulli Gold Cup (NSW) and the Horsham Cup.

Here is a replay of Nervous An Weird’s stunning Best of Night 25.53sec heat win from box one:
