Fireball Favourite

After a marginal victory in a heat of the Fireball at The Meadows, champion Tornado Tears has stripped one run fitter ahead of Saturday night’s Group Listed feature.

But trainer Rob Britton believes Tornado Tears is still going to have to get all the breaks he can to win back-to-back Fireballs.

“He is a year older and maybe running a little bit upside down where he’s not getting to the front as easily as he used to, but he can’t do anything more than win,” Rob said.

“At the halfway mark where he was either in front or second, he is now about five or six lengths behind which doesn’t help.”

“I don’t think he is going as well as last year when he won it.”

Tornado Tears has drawn box eight and is the $1.50 favourite over Dyna Chancer ($4) who will jump from box two.

“Dyna Chancer is a quality dog and I expect him to be right up there in the Fireball,” Rob said.
