Former Victorian trained Black Opium stole the show in the Brisbane Cup heats on Thursday night recording a best of the night 29.62sec over the 520 metre distance.

Andrea Dailly trained Dyna Patty was Victoria’s fastest qualifier, stopping the clock in a time of 29.76sec.

The two-time Group 1 winner clocked 5.54sec to the first mark from box five with punters sending her out second favourite behind Deliver. Black Opium held the fastest first sectional on Thursday night recording a 5.53sec run.

Dyna Patty is in red hot form, winning nine of her past 13 starts which includes the Group 2 Warrnambool Cup in May.

“She is jumping out of her skin at the moment and we couldn’t be happier with how she is going,” co-trainer Tom Dailly said.

Dyna Patty has drawn box four in the Brisbane Cup on Thursday night at Albion Park.

“She has Zipping Bailey on her inside which should give her room in the early stages and work in her favour. She is getting a little bit on in age but still has big performances left in her.”

Lucy’s Milo gave team Dailly their second runner in the $375,000 Brisbane Cup which will be held on Thursday July 4 at Albion Park.

“We are really happy with how he handled his first interstate trip,” Tom Dailly said.

“He chased well in his heat with the traffic he found himself in but he is going to need a lot of luck from box seven because he doesn’t tend to like being drawn out wide.”
