Hammer nails Classic

Slingshot Hammer, bred and owned by Jay Ferguson from the Victorian town of Clunes, won tonight’s Group 3 Cranbourne Classic (520m).

Despite being the fastest heat winner, drawing box one and being prepared by master trainer Robert Britton, Slingshot Hammer paid a generous $7.20.

Slingshot Hammer (Fernando Bale – Little Hammer) won by three lengths over Undisputed (Mario Briganti), Orson Allen (Correy Grenfell) and My Redeemer (David Geall) in 30.21sec.

The Cranbourne Classic is an age-restricted event with a first prize of $25,000, with the victory taking Slingshot Hammer’s record to nine wins from 22 starts and $46,535.
