Beast heads to the ‘Bool

Recent Group 2 Launching Pad winner, Beast Unleashed makes his return to Victoria this Wednesday night.

Seven heats of the Group 2 Warrnambool Cup (450m) will be run on the night, with the Victorian-bred, NSW-trained youngster drawn in box 1.

“I’ll be staying in Melbourne for the Warrnambool Cup series with Anthony Azzopardi,” said co-trainer Peter Lagogiane. “We trialled Beast Unleashed at Warrnambool last night over the 390 metres and he went pretty well, so we now look forward to Wednesday night.”

Beast Unleashed, who has raced eight times for seven wins, is one of a number of topline greyhounds lining up in the heats, along with the likes of Striker Light, Hecton Bale, Raw Ability, Aston Dee Bee, Monster Fish, Black Mumbo, Burn Like Fire, local superstar Lightning Frank and reigning Warrnambool Cup winner Leo’s Gift.

The Lagogiane kennel, based in Llandilo, also has Zipping Kelly and Set To Storm racing on Wednesday night’s card, the latter in a heat of the Cup.

The seven heat winners and fastest second placegetter will make up the $67,000 Warrnambool Cup final on 2 May.

Watch: Beast Unleashed (1) wins the Group 2 Launching Pad.
