WARRNAMBOOL CLASSIC: Local Kilty Express aims for Group 2

The Group 2 $106,500 Macey’s Bistro Warrnambool Classic is the richest Greyhound race in Country Victoria and a super field has been assembled for the final on Wednesday Night.

Here is my top four based on the semi-finals.

Kilty Express was impressive in his semi-final win when jumping straight to the lead and running a slick 25.11 seconds. He showed plenty of early speed and I think he will lead here. He excels when drawn close to the inside and looks to be the hardest to beat in the field.

Runner up in the semi behind Kilty Express was the Jeff Britton trained One For Me. He has drawn box 4 in the final which doesn’t work in his favour as he isn’t the best of beginners. What he does have though is strength at the end of the race. If he can get a clear run towards the first corner he will be charging home.

Aeroplane Bob for master trainer Jason Thompson contested the Group 1 Silver Chief earlier this year was a big winner of his semi-final (Replay). He isn’t fast early and hasn’t drawn well here but he without a doubt has plenty of class. If he can get some momentum from his wide box he should reel off some strong sectionals and be hard to hold out.

Cactus Jack was terrific in his semi-final win when racing away to score easily. He showed last Wednesday night he is more than capable of being a major factor in this race, but he will need luck to be on his side. It could be a big night for trainer Brett Bravo as he also has Unlawful Entry in the cup final.

Striker Klinsman is another greyhound with a chance in the Classic but I think he might get crowded in the early stages.

Magic Is Might ran well is his semi-final behind Aeroplane Bob, both are worth a mention (Replay).
