Last week’s sensational Group 2 Shootout win by Kayda Shae came at a cost with the budding superstar pulling up lame and ruining his TAB Melbourne Cup (515m) aspirations.

“He hurt a ligament in the Shootout but didn’t show any effects until the next day once he cooled down,” said trainer Kelly Bravo.

“We pulled him out of the Melbourne Cup series as a result, but there are a lot of other good races coming up so we’ll give him a rest for three or four weeks and then he should be right to go again.”

Meanwhile, leading trainer Jason Thompson finds himself in a similar boat with his Geelong Cup and Silver Bullet winner Dalgetty (pictured) also sidelined with a ligament issue that could keep him off the racetrack until the New Year.

And champion stayer Sweet It Is (Braden Finn) is also being spelled after coming on-season which sees her scratched from Friday night’s Group 1 Bold Trease (715m) heats at Sandown Park.
