Nominations open for Greyhound Industry Consultative Group

Nominations are now open for industry participants to become a member of Greyhound Racing Victoria’s (GRV) new Industry Consultative Group (ICG), being set up to improve the industry’s ability to advise and provide direct feedback to the GRV Board.

The 12 person ICG will include participants (trainers, breaking in/primary educators, rearers, breeders, owners), Club and Greyhound Owners Trainers and Breeders Association (GOTBA) representatives and an independent greyhound veterinarian.

The Group, to be chaired by GRV Chief Executive, Alan Clayton, will meet every second month starting in early 2016 and will also include GRV’s General Manager – Clubs & Membership.

Announcing the call for the nominations, GRV Chairman, Bernie Carolan said the ICG would play a key role in ensuring a strong and sustainable future for the sport in Victoria.

“Greyhound racing in Victoria is going through major cultural change and reform so it’s vital that all participants have access to a formal platform in shaping this process and how the industry will work together with GRV,” Mr Carolan said.

“Through the  ICG, the industry will have more broad-based input into GRV’s planning, providing a new forum for raising and discussing issues and a clearer insight into GRV’s decision-making process.

“The ICG will operate within a clear and transparent framework for setting the issues on its agenda and in providing advice and feedback to GRV’s Board and CEO.

“We have received   very  strong support across the industry for establishing the ICG and I encourage everyone who believes they can contribute or knows some can who can, to submit  nominations.

“The more nominations we receive, the stronger the ICG will be in representing the industry in working directly with GRV,” Mr Carolan added.

ICG member nominations close on 15 December 2015. For more information and nomination forms go to: www.grv.org.au/ICG,  email: [email protected] or call: 03 8329 1100.
