MERV PATCHING FUNERAL THURSDAY

The greyhound racing world is saddened by the sudden loss of Merv Patching, 68.

A much loved character of the sport, Patching trained greyhounds for many years from his home in Langwarrin, and his proudest moment as a trainer was winning the 1997 Adelaide Cup with Rare Deceit.

Patching is the brother of Lenice Rilen, whose husband Norm trains 2013 Great Chase finalist Nelirian.
