ONE RACE: $500,000 PRIZE MONEY

The Group 1 Melbourne Cup is now Australia’s richest greyhound race following key prize money announcements from the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club on Thursday night.

With a first prize of $350,000 (up from $200,000 in 2011), this event has surpassed Sydney’s Golden Easter Egg, which previously boasted the country’s highest first prize for a greyhound race of $250,000.
