Unlawful Entry, also known as Stripes, has called it a day after three track records and $27,971 raised for the charity Oakland Junction Riding Develops Abilities.

Unlawful Entry began his career two years ago in the 2015 Vic Bred Maiden series at Bendigo, running third in the heats and fourth in the semi-finals. He went on to win his maiden at Shepparton in a near best of the day time of 25.39 seconds.

The son of Knocka Norris x She Ain’t Late competed in and won his first group race at The Meadows, which would prove to be one of the most influential and community inspiring victories of his career – the 2015 Group Two TAB Great Chase.

The Great Chase partners disability groups throughout Victoria with one of the eight runners in the Group Two TAB Great Chase, for a chance to share in $17,500. Riding Develops Abilities were lucky enough to be matched with the Bravo trained Unlawful Entry who not only provided them with $10,000 on the day but 10 percent of his prize money for a year, thanks to Greyhound Racing Victoria.

“It was very rewarding to be involved in something like the Great Chase. The group were really supportive and even wanted to take him home as a pet once his career was over,” co-trainer Kelly Bravo said.

The Bravo family, especially Kelly and her daughter Bronte who owns Unlawful Entry, have a huge interest in horses so it was very ironic that they were matched with the Riding Developed Ability group.

“It was really disappointing when the 12 months ran out and he his earnings weren’t going to the group any more, but it was really nice to be apart of and the group are so thankful for what he had given them”

Kelly’s husband and co-trainer Brett purchased Unlawful Entry with the hope of getting their money back, and he has certainly done that. From 73 starts for 22 wins and 28 minor placing Unlawful Entry banked $288,483 in prize money.

“I think his toughest win was the Group One Hobart Thousand but here in Victoria the night he broke the track record at Warrnambool coming from behind was very special,” Kelly said.

“This morning we watched replays of all of his wins and there are a lot of good ones.”

Last night at Sandown, one of three tracks he holds the track record at, Unlawful Entry finished third to the Angela Langton trained Quotation Mark.

“He got extra McDonald’s on the way home last night, my struggle now is making sure he doesn’t get too fat.”
On June 21 Victoria’s leading Stud Master Paul Westervild of Meticulous lodge announced he will be holding Unlawful Entry at stud with a starting fee of $1,100.

“We decided that it was the right time to retire him now because there has been a fair bit of interest around the couple of straws he had taken. He was also drawing pretty awkwardly and we weren’t targeting any races in particular with him.”

“To us it doesn’t matter if he makes it as a stud dog, he will live out his days with us.”
