Without A Trace has capped a brilliant season by claiming Victorian greyhound racing’s highest individual honour.

The staying superstar was crowned the 2025/26 Sportsbet Victorian Greyhound of the Year at Friday night’s Victorian Greyhound Awards, shortly after also collecting the Stayer of the Year title.

Trained by Peter Presutto at Devon Meadows and bred by Darren and Michael Puleio, Without A Trace beat a quality lineup for the overall honour, including Melbourne Cup champion Canya Mayhem.

Without A Trace won 15 of her 27 starts, headlined by three Group 1 victories, while also recording two Group 1 seconds, a Group 1 third and a Group 2 victory.

For Presutto, her Topgun Stayers triumph stands above the rest.

“Her early speed, her chase and her strength – she could get out in front and break them up. That sort of set her apart from everyone else at that point,” Presutto said.

“There’s no limit to what she can do. It’s just humbling to have something like that in your kennel.”

But Without A Trace’s impact has extended well beyond her performances on the track.

“As far as the family goes, she’s brought us together. There’s just a sense of pride and it’s a pure pleasure to have her around.” Presutto said.

Presutto was also quick to recognise breeders Darren and Michael Puleio and the work behind producing Victoria’s newly crowned champion.

“The amount of work they put into their dogs as breeders – they’re fantastic people and a fantastic family,” he said.
