Tips for Sandown Park – Maturity entrée

It’s a decent card tonight at Sandown Park and following this meeting all attention will turn to The Meadows on Saturday night for heats of the Maturity for younger sprinters and Fireball for the stayers – a card booming with quality.

BEST
Race 8, Dr. Will (1)
He’s short, but there’s no reason to think that he won’t win this race. There will be no early pressure on his immediate outside, while the other pacier types are drawn wide. He should punch up early and be hard to beat. Maybe a multi anchor in your weekend plays.

NEXT BEST
Race 1, Little Monkey (3)
I thought the expectation on her in her first handful of starts was unwarranted, but I’ve seen enough in her past few to jump on-board. While there’s good early speed from the three widest drawn runners, the Monkey should get every chance to accelerate forward from her draw. If she leads, I don’t think they’ll get her.

VALUE
Race 7, Oh Biscuit (7)
She’s fast and she’s got a habit of racing wide, which tells us box 7 is no issue. Further to that, other race fancies Lamia Nonna Mim (4) and Brooklyn Girl (5) are really keen to get to the rail. She should get every chance to go forward. Is she strong enough over this distance is the question, but you’re getting reasonable odds to find out.

WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
Race 6, Fleeing (5)
He’s the fastest greyhound in the race but generally he’s slow to begin. Just about all of his opposition should step away better than he will. From that point onwards I think it could be challenging for him. He’s a very handy type worth following but I don’t feel tonight will be his night.

QUADDIE
Race 5: 1,2,6
Race 6: 3,4,5,7
Race 7: 3,4,5,7
Race 8: 1,6
