Without A Trace cleared to return in Dubbo Country Classic heats

Champion stayer Without A Trace will make her return to racing in Saturday night’s Country Classic heats at Dubbo after a month on the sideline due to injury.

The Peter Presutto-trained chaser hasn’t been seen on the track since sustaining a tendon injury to the front of her wrist, an issue that initially looked worse than first expected.

Fortunately for connections, the setback proved less serious than feared.

“She has been given the all clear by the vet,” Presutto said.

“The injury looked worse than what was expected and she has responded exceptionally well to treatment.

“She is rearing to go.”

Without A Trace has drawn box three in one of the Country Classic heats over 605 metres, where she will face some quality opposition as she resumes.

Among them is Vodka And Ice, who lines up in the same heat fresh off a third placing in the Group 1 Fanta Bale Stayers at The Meadows.

The Country Classic series has also attracted the sport’s brightest staying star, with Group 1 Fanta Bale Stayers winner Magpie Hector set to contest heat three from box four.
